Sculptor Miriam Kaminská unveiled her captivating sculpture Adam at AAU’s outdoor courtyard, encapsulating an unforgettable evening filled with artistic dialogue and live music.

Adam, originally constructed in 2022, captured the essence of life’s perpetual flow through movement and stillness. The artwork extended from her series Me and You and The Dyads, showcasing her narratives about generational continuity, connection, and existence.

“[Adam] was created in the time of two years,” said Kaminská. “The theme of the sculpture is the primordial archetypes of mankind, which somehow are still untouched. That’s why the sculpture looks so straight, strong, firm, and calm.”

Miriam Kaminská was a celebrated sculptor whose work examined the theme of existentialism. Since her graduation from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2018, Kaminská’s artistic journey has taken her to apprenticeships all over the world, including the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem and the studio of Werner Mally in Munich.

Following Kaminská’s speech, the event took an exhilarating turn with artist Eva Zurakowska performing a series of enchanting folk songs. The atmosphere was electrifying as the audience clapped to the beats of the traditional songs, bringing the AAU community closer together through appreciation for the arts.

“I do enjoy it a lot, especially the performance,” said Cui, a third-year visual art student. “I felt like the performance complemented the sculpture very well.”

As the evening came to a close, everyone left the courtyard with a deeper understanding of Kaminská’s work and traditional performance arts, enriching both the mind and the soul.
