Café des Taxis hosted the Student Council’s Back-to-School Party on 20 September, providing free drinks for the first 200 students in attendance.
The Student Council kicked off the event by introducing activities like friendship bracelet making, beer pong, a piñata, and, of course, music and dancing.
“First of all, we had no food this year,” said Niyota Burkes, the Student Council’s event manager. “We just decided to make it a more chill party just for people to come talk, meet each other, maybe a little bit of dancing; but we just want to scale it down a bit so that we can ensure a success.”
10 swings from different students finally popped the piñata, causing a cacophony of sweets to drop to the ground and a scramble of people to snatch them up.
“It’s been chill and relaxing,” said Han Nguyen, a first year AAU student. “I’m enjoying [it] and it’s been fun.”
With dancing until late at night, drinks, and good vibes, students showed excitement for a promising semester.
