Meet Monika Spacilova
I would not call it modelling but something that I always wanted to do for myself. So in 2012 I participated in the Miss Expat Competition because I thought it would be interesting to represent and embrace my Cambodian side. After I came third in this competition, I started getting more job offers and going to various castings. At 17, when I started taking part in beauty contests, I still was very shy. I was such an introvert that I would barely talk to people. As I was coming to the room filled with these tall beautiful girls, I kept asking myself “What am I doing here? There is no point for me to be here”. However, as I got to meet new people and matured a bit I started to open up and now I just go there and have my own fun with it. During the Miss Expat Competition, I remember there was a moment when a small girl recognized me on the street and she said that she wanted to be like me in the future. The feelings that I experienced at that moment were the best in the world. Being a model is one of my long-lasting dreams but for now, I really want to focus on my school.
