Canadian indie-rock band, Peach Pit, will jam in Prague once again on Tuesday, April 29 at MeetFactory for their Magpie tour. With tickets around 500 CZK, the vibey indie band promises a rockin’ Tuesday night.
The band of four completed their Australia and New Zealand leg in early March and will start their European tour on April 9 in Bristol, bouncing around 23 venues until they begin their U.S. tour May 20.
The band started playing in Vancouver’s underground music scene at what lead singer Neil Smith called “not really ‘venue’ venues”, foreshadowing the fate of the band’s beloved stage here in Prague.
It’s been seven years since the quartet performed at the now-defunct Prague-based collective, Underdogs, on Nádražní. While the Underdogs’ independent venue is history due to funding, they continue to organize music concerts and festivals.
The band’s choice of hosting their concert at MeetFactory this time reflects the band’s Do-It-Yourself vibe. The non-profit international contemporary art center was founded in 2001 by artist David Černý, notorious for his defiant and controversial public sculptures. Due to flooding, the location was forced to abandon Holešovice and relocate to Smíchov in 2005.
Tickets for Peach Pit’s Prague concert can be purchased here. Doors open at 20:00 and, if weather allows, concert goers will be able to catch the sight of trains passing the venue from MeetFactory’s outdoor bar before the music starts.
