Two weeks ago, 22,000 white crosses appeared across the ground of Old Town Square in Prague. This chalk presentation came about on March 22, which marked the anniversary of the first Covid related death in the Czech Republic. The crosses were to symbolize the Czech lives lost to the Coronavirus and to honor their memory with a moment of silence. This sombering statement comes at a time when the Covid situation seems to be at its worst. The Covid death toll in Czech Republic has now surpassed 26,000 since the start of the pandemic. The symbolism portrayed last week through these crosses can only remind us that we will continue to fight this virus and remain strong together.
