Purple and orange-colored flyers and stickers have gone up all around Prague’s city center advocating an upcoming Pro-Abortion protest at Jungmannovo Namesti on April 26 at 13:00.

Praha Je Feministická’s Pro Život, a pro-abortion organization, is organizing the protest in direct opposition to Pro-Life protests occurring the same day led by Hnuti Pro-Život and Aliance Pro Rodinu. Although Pro Život directly translates to “Pro Life,” the name is a direct reference to Hnuti Pro-Život, which translates to “Pro Life Movement.”

According to Praha Je Feministická’s Pro Život protest advertisement, these anti-abortion associations’ protest-methods have proven polarising within an already controversial issue. According to the advertisement, these groups have since altered their tactics because, “the pro-life movement wants to improve its PR image.” The groups have “stopped marching with dozens of white crosses, drums, and photos of embryos, but the goals remain the same.”

The protest was held last year, with large groups on both sides holding banners in support of their views. Praha Je Feministická also had supporters holding signs in support of topics outside the abortion debate. Some held anti-fascist signs and pro-palestinian signs were also featured in images posted on Pro Život’s website.

Hnuti Pro Život’s slogan posted on their website reads “We Do Not Judge. We Help,” and seeks to “help women who are expecting a baby unexpectedly.” The organization has programs to discuss the options a pregnant woman has to “find the best solution together for her, her loved ones, and her unborn child.”

Despite this, Praha Je Feministická’s Pro Život movement argues the group is threatening human rights, saying at the bottom of their advertisement, “when it comes to human rights, we will not stand aside.

Stickers have been placed in frequented locations all around Prague in support of  Saturday’s protest, translated from Czech reading, “Hnuti Pro Život will want to abuse Prague again for their anti feminist agitation. They won’t make it! Save the date 26/4.”
