Fashion lovers, make some space in your closet – because you will need it! Prague offers a variety of trendy thrift stores that allow you to expand your wardrobe with unique vintage pieces while shopping sustainably and on a budget.
Charity shops and vintage stores are like wearing two different pairs of shoes. Charity shops, also known as secondhand or thrift stores, offer a mix of donated clothing at lower prices, while vintage stores feature curated designer and high-quality pieces, often at higher prices.
“Even though a vintage store is considered thrifting, it’s a lot pricier,” said President of Fashion Club, Gabrielle Anika Flavier.
Genesis embodies the early 2000s and Y2K fashion, making you feel like you’re shopping in iconic films like John Tucker Must Die (2006) and The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003). With several Genesis stores throughout Prague, the Vinohrady location proves to be the best, with each piece -whether shoes, bags or even jackets- is priced at CZK 89.
Crashily is easily recognizable by its XXL unicorn plushie and quirky mannequin adorned in a unicorn costume in the window. Inside, you’ll discover true vintage gems like Burberry shirts and George Gina & Lucy bags.
Kira and Textile House offer some of the best in-between jackets for fall. Items include leather jackets in every color and jean jackets in all sizes. Not to mention unique pieces that are bound to keep you warm when your crush won’t.
For early birds or all-night partiers, flea markets offer the best of both worlds. Prague’s largest flea market opens at 6:30 every Saturday, right next to the tram stop U Elektry. So if you still have a few coins left after a long night at the club, stop by on your way home.
