A group of eight students travelled to Galle, Sri Lanka for three weeks in January 2017 on AAU International Exchange Project (IEP). After some training teaching (English as a second language as well as other subjects); guidance on working in a humanitarian capacity; a background on Sri Lankan culture, politics, economics and history, they boarded their flight to Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo.

Through humanitarian work, visiting local businesses, national institutions and daily fieldwork, they developed their understanding of the island and its culture.

These photos, taken by IEP team members, recap the highlights of their mission. Here’s an unforgettable journey to the Pearl of the Indian Ocean.
